Why i'm I seeing more and more people posting stuff like "C++ TEST" or "HOMEWORK" I don't get it I not the best programmer in the world but I love trying to figure out the problems myself.... Am i the only one....
Why don't you guys make a homework room, I've seen that done before. Then you know whats homework, but I have a suspicion that you hackers can smell homework problems a mile away. I mean you see repeats of the same problems. In that case in the homework room you would help the person along, instead of pasting the code right away and any thread that was suspiciously a homework problem you would refer them to that room, and be nice about it so they go there. lol. All I'm saying is no forum has the response that you do, so people flock to your forum for the easy answer, maybe they did try to figure it out but didn't know where to start. Also, I have another suspicion that you guys like to see that they at least attempt to work through it themselves. I've always seen you answer questions with code and insight. I'm sure when people say "hurry up I need it now" or offer no attempted effort, why should you do the work for them.
We can smell homework from a mile away, half of us have done it.
The thing about it is that people would post in the homework forum but they'd still just throw code at the real experts and say "plaz do am need for tmrrw kthxbai".
Personally, when I see someone bump their thread or beg/demand that their prayers be answered, I just stop being of any use. Help is a privilege, not a right.
If the mission of the forum is to help people then you do it well, I'm sure you can decide for yourselves which questions you want to answer, I just had an idea I thought would manage the flow of incomming homework assignments, not all of which are bad. Keep in mind they also teach programming in Jr high and highschool, IDK maybe they're 10, which could explain the influx of poorly versed questions or impatience because they are frustrated. I guess if your swimming with sharks its best to learn how not to piss the sharks off. Especially if you want them to help you. Maybe a hard shoulder now and then teaches modesty and keeps us honest. :)
Holy crap they are learning...cleverly disguising their "DO MY HOMEWORK PLOX!!!!" with "can some one provide the pseudo code for me?" All they have to do is covert it to a c++ syntax and BAM their thinking is done.
Don't forget that the point of forums like these is two-fold:
1. to help acclimate newbies to thinking like a programmer
2. to provide mutual support for C and C++ related stuff
In neither case can we force anyone in any way. Nor should we.
There will always be line noise. Hopefully, we can help keep it down by being friendly and helpful, and by gently discouraging or ignoring the more obnoxious or transient blips.
Personally, I don't think "us" vs "them" discussions help much.
I'm new here and haven't asked for much help yet, but I'd like to say thank you anyway. Although I still have a lot to learn, I'm not exactly new to programming. If there's anything I can do to be of help to this forum I will gladly do so.
At the moment I have a lot of homework to catch up on, but I do plan to return to this site whenever I can.
I've learned that most questions will be answered by your own search into what the problems are before you get answered, In which case sometimes its nice to talk to experienced programmers about questions you would want to know about. Other than that all I see is people posting homework questions that could be solved with just a little work, but the scary thing is how far they are in school, maybe their second year and they have really weird designs. Other than that I like this site, its answered alot of my questions that couldn't be answered.
