I can't believe I made the "skipping stone" mistake! That one always gets me because it contributes to lift kind of (in)directly through the reduction of drag; and my interest in horizontal flight is more aligned with ballistics then powered flight. Oh well, having more to learn is never a bad thing I suppose.
